Who is responsible for the website

Updates in Medicine is responsible for the information described in this policy. For privacy enquiries, contact contact@updatesinmedicine.com.

Information we collect

When you subscribe, we ask for your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name. We also record the date and status of your subscription and your consent choice. If you unsubscribe, we record that choice.

If you email us, we receive your address and the information you include in your message. Our hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, requested pages and security events in server and security logs.

How we use information

We use subscription details to manage the free email updates you request, maintain your subscription status and honour unsubscribe requests. We use correspondence to reply to enquiries. Technical information is used to deliver, maintain and protect the website.

We do not use subscriber addresses for unrelated marketing or share them with advertisers. A separate, clear choice would be required before either use.

Newsletter subscriptions

Newsletter signup is currently disabled. No new subscription details are collected through the form while Kit and its confirmation-email flow are being prepared and tested. Once signup is enabled, subscribers can expect selected medical research, guideline updates and clinical reviews from Updates in Medicine.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe page or by contacting us. Future paid services would require a separate voluntary sign-up. Free subscribers will not be charged or automatically moved to a paid plan.

Legal basis and consent

When newsletter signup is enabled, where consent is the applicable legal basis, we will rely on the choice you make in the subscription form to manage and send the email updates you request. Existing subscribers can withdraw consent by unsubscribing. Where applicable, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to correspondence and operating and securing the website, balanced against your privacy rights.

Service providers and international processing

The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Subscriber records are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Kit is planned for future newsletter subscriptions and delivery, but it is not connected to the form at present. Subscriber details are not currently sent to Kit.

Hosting and database processing may take place outside your country. We will review and update this section when the relevant transfer arrangements are confirmed and before subscriber information is sent to Kit.

Cookies and analytics

Updates in Medicine does not currently run its own advertising cookies or analytics scripts. The website links to external social platforms and original publications; opening those sites takes you to their own services and privacy practices. Our hosting service may use technologies needed to deliver and protect the website. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

Retention and security

We keep subscriber records while needed to manage active subscriptions, honour unsubscribe choices and meet applicable obligations. We review these records periodically. We keep enquiries while needed to respond and meet any applicable record-keeping obligations. Technical-log retention depends on the hosting provider’s settings and policies and is being confirmed.

We use access controls and the security measures provided by our hosting and database services to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

You can contact contact@updatesinmedicine.com to request access to, correction of or deletion of information we hold about you, or to raise a concern. Other rights may apply depending on the law that covers your information. You may also raise a concern with a relevant data-protection authority where applicable.

Unsubscribing stops future newsletter emails. A limited record may be kept where needed to honour your opt-out request.

Children, changes and contact

This website is intended for doctors and other medical professionals and is not directed at children. We will update the date above when this policy changes and provide additional notice when a change materially affects how we use personal information.
